David Babcock

Senior Investigator – LA County District Attorney Office

Dave is a current and founding member of the Los Angeles County District Attorney (LADA) Cyber Investigation Response Team (CIRT). His unit is the law enforcement criminal investigation arm of cyber-attacks, intellectual property thefts, and network intrusions against Los Angeles County government technology assets and resources, including human resources. Dave has been assigned to CIRT for more than ten years. In this role, he is also a member of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Identity Theft Task Force and the United States Secret Service Los Angeles Cyber Fraud Task Force.

Dave has trained thousands of law enforcement professionals, Los Angeles County employee end-users, and County business enterprises and residents in the disciplines of cyber security, risk reduction, and Internet investigations. Before joining the LADA, Babcock was a Police Officer for the City of Glendale. He served as a Non-Commissioned Officer in the United States Marine Corps and is a graduate of the Illinois Institute of Technology, with a degree in Chemical Engineering.
